Insults, stone throwing, beatings... Firefighters continue to suffer attacks during their interventions.
This Thursday afternoon, a man was sentenced to 90 day-fines of 10 euros by the criminal court of Évry-Courcouronnes for having exercised violence on the firefighter who had nevertheless come to lend him assistance.
If he does not pay the fines, they will turn into days in jail.
The defendant, aged 32, will also have to pay 500 euros in damages to his victim for non-pecuniary damage and 600 euros to the Essonne departmental fire and rescue service.
The facts date back to September 5, 2019 in Montgeron.
That evening, around 11:30 p.m., the firefighters intervened in a building hall where an unconscious individual was found.
The intervention is complicated from the outset because the companions of the man who is on the ground are violent, all being under the influence of narcotics and alcohol.
"We suffered a wave of violence and hatred," says a firefighter at the helm.
The crew nevertheless manages to pick up the patient and transport him in their truck.

But once on board, the man wakes up with a start.
He begins to insult the firefighter who takes care of him, grabs him by the throat and tries to hit him.
Fortunately, he is under control.
The individual then flees.
During the investigation, the defendant admitted to being a drug user.
That night he said he took MDMA (ecstasy).
This Thursday, the 30-year-old did not deign to appear at the hearing, to the great regret of the firefighter he had attacked.
"He never apologized," lamented the firefighter.
What the deputy prosecutor also regretted: “I find it difficult to understand why this man attacked the rescuers who were intervening in his interest, wonders the magistrate.
The intervention was complicated by his entourage, then by his reaction.
