Kabul-Sana
Abdul Rahim Haqqani, one of the most prominent leaders of the Taliban movement, was killed in an explosion in the Afghan capital, Kabul, today.
The Associated Press quoted Taliban spokesman Bilal Karimi as saying that "Haqqani was killed in an explosion targeting his religious center in the capital, Kabul," without giving any details about the nature of the explosion or about the deaths and injuries of others as a result of the explosion.
In turn, an intelligence official confirmed that “Haqqani, one of the religious authorities of the Taliban movement, was killed in an explosion in the capital, Kabul,” while other sources indicated that “the attack took place in a religious school in Kabul when a suicide bomber who had previously lost his leg blew up explosives that were hidden in a plastic prosthetic leg.”
For its part, the terrorist organization (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attack.
The terrorist organization (ISIS) has been targeting civilians and Taliban militants in frequent attacks since the movement seized power last August.
