The opening ceremony of the European Championships in Munich is taking place today, Wednesday.

For music fans there is

a real treat in addition to numerous other acts

(see first report) .

Sportfreunde Stiller will present their new single "Spectacular" on Wednesday evening (8:15 p.m.).

Entry is free.

"It's going to be a very spectacular evening, come by!" the band said in their announcement video on Instagram.

First report from August 8, 2022

There is music this summer – the Olympic Park will be the biggest party zone in the city.

The German rapper Marteria opens the festival "The Roofs" around the European Championships on Wednesday evening on the central stage at the Olympiasee.

While athletes fight for medals at the sports venues, music stars provide sound and good humor every day until August 21st.

And best of all: All concerts are free.

In addition to Marteria, the Munich brass band Moop Mama will heat up the crowds on Wednesday – 6,000 people can be seated directly in front of the stage.

But there is a festival atmosphere throughout the Olympic Park - similar to that of Midsummer Night's Dream.

On the ten days that follow, Wanda, Alphaville, Kitschkrieg and the Munich Freedom also perform, among other things.

Munich: Colorful supporting program for the European Championships

But the supporting program has even more to offer: in the Olympic Park alone there are nine different stages for cultural and hands-on shows, plus one each on Königsplatz and on the regatta course.

The main topics are, for example, varied offers for children, on the home stage near the Olympiaalm tradition and the Bavarian attitude to life determine the scenery.

In addition to numerous different music acts and DJ sounds, there are also workshops on various topics such as sustainable nutrition and meditation.

A separate stage deals only with the topic of technology, elsewhere there is an art area.

At the Olympic Lake, things are more relaxed at a beach bar - different at Königsplatz: Here the official beach volleyball courts of the European Championship stars are open to the general public.

Then everyone can dig through the sand themselves.

The stage in the Olympiasee is at the heart of the “The Roofs” festival.
