Opinion We chose the opposition: when Meretz despairs of governing Israel today

2022-08-11T12:44:40.244Z

Meretz is so righteous and full of herself, that it seems that she has no real interest in governmental responsibility, only to sit on the tribune and blaspheme • Some say that power corrupts - it seems that it mostly tires her

The Huggy Waggy doll

has a furry and soft body, big and round eyes, a wide smile and inside it are embroidered long and thin teeth.

The Huggy Waggy doll also appears in a scary computer game where she jumps on the players and utters words of love to them such as: "I'll hug you until you suffocate".

This is definitely a character that can terrorize, and this week she has aroused media interest accompanied by shock.

the children!

The nightmares!

How?!

Why is the Huggy Waggy doll being denounced and not Simba?

After all, when he's not working at Disney, his brothers the lions kill 200 people a year in Africa.

This is nothing compared to the victims of the elephants, another toy that children sleep with without their parents fearing that they will wake them up screaming.

A child who does not know that the Huggy Waggy doll has a parallel career as a serial killer in a computer game - will not be traumatized when he encounters her in a toy store.

For him, this is another bear.

And why did I need children's toys?

Because the nightmares they generate or do not generate depend on the context and the mental makeup of the dreamer.

Eyal Golan has already sung: "He who believes - is not afraid", but sometimes it is precisely he who believes - who is more afraid.

Sometimes a wrong belief gives rise to a passive fear and this in turn gives rise to an exaggerated reaction.

Like for example the Meretz propaganda video that was published this week.

For a minute and a half, against the background of photos from the Balfour and the bridges demonstrations, and also of Netanyahu, Ben Gabir and Litzman, a young man stands, full of apocalyptic fervor, and says these things:

"This is it? Have you given up? Ah, you no longer believe it's possible. And then - did you believe? Did you believe that after 12 years of him being in power we would send him and his corrupt cult home? That Paking Meretz would be in the government and Bibi and Ben Gabir and Litzman would be out? Did you really believe that we would win? The truth? No We believed. We still went out to the bridges and Balfour, we screamed our hearts out and spat blood for a night and another night, and no matter how much they deployed roadblocks, and policemen and horses, to run us over, to break us, to attack us with D-9, we stood up and fought for the house, And don't believe it - we won. We won over the corrupt, and we won over the racists, and we won over the kahanists, and the homophobes, and the fascists, and the dark ones - we won. Meretz is in and they are out.

"So do me a favor and for once in your life raise your head, take a deep breath and be proud, because we have only just begun. Look at the evil and tell it in the face: we are the hundreds of thousands who demonstrated, who fought, who voted, if you want to destroy this place - you will have to go through us. And just like we won just a moment ago - we will win. We are the change. We are Meretz."

According to the rhetoric

, one might think that the spoiled and privileged group of protesters in Israel's history sacrificed their lives on the beaches of Normandy to save the world from absolute evil.

A captive in a dream rally, in which the Netanyahu bloc's voters, more than half of the Jewish public in Israel, are a "corrupt sect", branded and equipped demonstrations down to shirt level are "spitting blood."

"They" who deployed barriers and tried to run over with D-9, are the police forces, or the enemy in the eyes of the warriors of light.

The Balfour protesters demonstrated during an epidemic, most of the day, turning the lives of the neighbors of the Prime Minister's residence into hell, and in their opinion, they are the ones who were at war. The few against the many, the forces of light against the forces of darkness, gentle poets against the poison machine.

There is a gaping chasm between the fragility of the presenter and the hysteria of the text and the presentation of the demonstrations as heroic.

It is not a warrior saying these evil words, but a frightened child who has invented a monster for himself and is fighting it as a three-year-old child fights for his right to have a toy.

This is not a victory cheer, but a tantrum on the floor of the mall followed by an expectation of a medal from the exhausted mother who succumbed to his screams.

Meretz's propaganda video tries to charm the Balfour protesters.

Maybe the party, which is teetering on the brink of the blocking percentage, will be able to wrestle a piece of mandate from them.

However, the hatred for Netanyahu and his voters is not unique to Meretz: it is also shared by Yesh Atid, Blue and White New Tikva and Yisrael Beitenu.

They all pledged not to sit in the government headed by him and still have not gone back on them.

This sentiment guided most of the Israeli media, the High Court of Justice, Mandelblit, the attorney's office, all of which poured gasoline into the fire of unbridled and self-aware hatred.

But Meretz is an exception

even among these: it is apparently the only party that has no real desire to participate in government.

This is a task that requires restraint and maturity that Meretz never possessed.

The three ministers left after a year in office: Issawi Frij announced his retirement from politics.

Tamar Zandberg recycled bottles, found her partner, Uri Zaki, a state position (which he abandoned after a year to run in the primaries) and then took early retirement.

Nitzan Horowitz dealt mainly with the LGBT community, failed to prevent the retirement of Jida Rinavi Zoevi, or to notice that she may not be suitable for Meretz in the first place. Then he gave up the leadership of the party. Some say that power corrupts. Meretz is mostly tiring.

This is Meretz's genetics.

She is so right and so full of herself, that she had a hard time fitting in even in Yitzhak Rabin's Oslo coalition.

Then Education Minister Shulamit Aloni fell out with Shas and was replaced by Amnon Rubinstein. In the Ehud Barak government they had three ministers, but even then the party only lasted a year until it resigned due to another conflict with Shas.

They are not interested in governmental responsibility, only to sit in the tribune and insult the players and fans of the opposing team.

They are unable and unwilling to play, yet they convince themselves that they have a place in the Premier League.

Meretz believes in monsters from her imagination.

She is a child who believes with complete faith that Hagi Wagi, together with the forces of evil that are the majority of the people of Israel, stand against him to his end.

That's why she felt entitled to curse imaginary enemies until the end of her life and describe the barrage of curses as "we fought for the house".

This is Meretz.

She is unable and unwilling to do anything else.

If it weren't for Bennett and Shaked, the party would have remained immersed in its childish nightmares and its empty arrogance and would have been content with that.

Thanks to Bennett and Shaked, Fa*ing Meretz is part of the new state fa*ing.

Were we wrong?

We will fix it!
