"We had an accident, man, at an altitude of 1,400 meters in the mountains," Flores said in the video, pointing to the wrecked helicopter in the lush vegetation.
He provided a general location of the crash and said that several people were injured: "We have several broken legs and arms. There are six of us. But we have to thank God that we survived and we are alive."
Flores did not elaborate on a possible cause of the crash.
In a video he shot afterward, the politician and lawyer showed two locals who managed to navigate to the crash site and complained about the authorities' slow response.
According to him, he waited four hours and twenty minutes until the two residents found him.
"I am very disappointed with the authorities. Helicopters flew over several times, helicopters that cost us millions, but failed to land here," he said.
"There is a lot of work to be done in our country."
A rescue team from Panama's National Air and Sea Service tweeted that the journey to the scene on foot took three hours.
The team thanked the local residents for helping them locate the passengers in the jungle.
When it turned out that the six passengers were not seriously injured, tweets appeared on Twitter mocking the politician for using social media in such a dramatic situation.
One user offered to give his phone to Flores.
