Probably asleep: Wheelchair user crashes into the track at Giesinger station – witness dials emergency call

There was an accident on the railroad track in Munich-Giesing.
A wheelchair user fell with his wheelchair and injured himself.
Munich – A wheelchair user fell onto the track at Giesinger Bahnhof.
According to the federal police, the incident happened on Thursday morning, August 11, around 10:40 a.m.
According to the first testimonies, the man (82) is said to have fallen asleep.
It is assumed that the gentleman must then have unintentionally touched the control lever of the electric vehicle with his hand or arm.

The federal police also said: The wheelchair started moving without any external influence and drove to the edge of the platform without the driver reacting.
When this was reached, the wheelchair and its sleeping occupant fell onto the track bed.
A witness reported the incident via emergency call so that the tracks could be closed and S-Bahn trains and trains stopped in good time.

All train connections at Giesing station were interrupted for around 30 minutes while the casualty was being cared for on the track.
There were disruptions in the operation of the railway.
There is currently no information about the state of health of the 82-year-old or other information about his person.
