Scholz: There will be no unrest
In one discipline, the Germans are not so easily surpassed by anyone: black painting.
For example, the Green Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock rants about imminent “popular uprisings”, CSU boss Markus Söder paints the “gas triage” on the wall and the SPD whispers about the “winter of rage” – which is said to be particularly looming when FDP Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner does not only helps the very poorest, but dares to relieve the middle, which is also plagued, with tax relief.
Are you crazy?
Anyone who babbles like this is blowing wind in the sails of the war criminal Putin out of ignorance – or, worse, out of cheap domestic political calculations.
He is counting on "German fear" and on the fact that the willingness to defend Ukraine, which is only Moscow's first casualty on the way to the restoration of the old Soviet Union, is flagging.
That's why he had his state media draw up wild nuclear annihilation scenarios right at the beginning of the war, that's why he turns off the gas tap and he provokes a world food crisis including new mass migration.
The murderous Kremlin dictator wants to intimidate Western societies and bring the war into our streets because he is not making the hoped-for progress in Ukraine and in the subjugation of neighboring countries despite massive battles of material.
Our politicians shouldn't be so stupid as to help him in this perfidious game.
Already clear: Germany is facing great challenges, the citizens will have to tighten their belts.
The chancellor did the right thing when he urged the panickers to calm down yesterday.
What matters now is cohesion and solidarity with those in need.
A test of character, yes, but our country must and will pass it.
