The mighty singer Omar Sarmini, the son of the city of Aleppo, is one of the giants of art, who loved authentic singing since childhood.
Sarmini began his artistic career at the age of nine years and was a student of his father, Sheikh Muhammad Sarmini, and learned from him the principles of religious recitation and recitation, which made him master the musical maqamat at an early age.
In an interview with SANA, Sarmini said: “I used to accompany my father to the dhikr circles that were held in mosques, which enabled me to master the rules of intonation, read the Qur’an, and refine my talent in this field.
He continued: "After that, at the Aleppo Musical Institute, I learned to sing and play the lute at the hands of many great professors, including Nadim Al-Darwish and Muhammad Qassas. Qadir Hajjar.
Sarmini explained that he presented many muwashshahat, qudud, roles and songs of his own, similar to al-Qudud al-Halabi in terms of word and melody, such as (Eddie Bznarak, Pistachio Ya Akhdar, Ya Mal Aleppo) and others.
Regarding his participation in artistic festivals, he stated that it is necessary to revive the Aleppo heritage through artistic platforms, pointing to the excellence of the city of Aleppo in the field of art, especially the art of improvisation, which is one of the most difficult types and requires technical expertise in the field of singing, melodies and knowledge in the science of music, maqamat and percussion, in addition to To a rich cultural and artistic stock.
The artist Sarmini's bids are still continuing in the field of art in a distinctive and clever style, in which he presents the heritage with loyalty and honesty, preserving the Syrian identity.
