The district court in Haifa accepted the police appeal this morning (Thursday) and ruled that the teacher suspected of sexually assaulting her student will remain in custody and will not be released to house arrest.
On top of that, Judge Daoud Mazen extended her detention until August 15.
"These are very dangerous crimes," the police claimed at the hearing.
"The suspect is not cooperating fully. She confirms that some of the incidents happened, but denies the most serious offenses and throughout her investigation blames the minor. And to mention that this is a student with special needs that she was responsible for."
"These are incest crimes, in a full marital relationship between the two, taking advantage of the girl's mental state," added the police representative.
"Yesterday we seized two new phones. We received an order to unload them and it will start today."

This morning, in an interview with 103, the girl's lawyer, Shani Elkoubi, told that she is still hospitalized in a psychiatric institution: "Her mental condition is not easy, she is hospitalized as a result of what happened, and suffers from all kinds of problems anyway. This is in the framework of a school for the special education of children who suffer from difficult problems, and because of the exposure of the case, she was even more broken and tried to commit suicide several times. These are children with a very dependent character, they are very easy to exploit and easy to influence, and even so when it comes to minors."
"This is a girl who didn't just come to special education," she clarified.
"A teacher should have legitimate tools, certainly not to send intimate photos. She's a complex girl anyway, I don't deny it, but sending intimate photos and love letters is not the way to deal with these boys who are already suffering from problems. There is much more than correspondence, they clearly prove a sexual relationship , there is no room for confusion here."

D., the teacher's husband, referred to the case in an interview with 103 and said that "she shared with me the things she went through at school, all the conversations with the student and the whole relationship was all intended to help. She is really a girl with a very big heart.
