In the Lebanese capital, Beirut, a hostage-taking operation by a gunman in a bank ended this evening.
The Lebanese Al-Manar TV website reported that the security forces removed the gunman from the Federal Bank, and that the detained employees began leaving the bank after the gunman surrendered to the security forces.
This armed depositor had detained this morning citizens and employees inside the Federal Bank, demanding that he hand over his money deposited with Lebanese banks.
Lebanon is witnessing a stifling financial and economic crisis that led to the freezing of depositors' funds in banks, which sparked widespread protests among them.
