Thirteen people were killed, 18 others were injured, and 6 were missing as a result of torrential rains that hit the South Korean capital, Seoul, and its surrounding areas.
Among the deaths, 8 were in Seoul, 3 were in Gyeonggi Province, and 2 were in Gangwon Province, Yonhap News Agency quoted the Central Headquarters for Disaster Management and Safety Measures as saying, noting that 6 people were missing in each of Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and Kangwon Province.
He explained that the heavy rains caused the displacement of 1,492 people, while 4,807 others were temporarily evacuated from their homes. The heavy rains also led to losses in private and public properties.
