The new crown pneumonia epidemic in Hong Kong continues, and today (12th), 12 new residential care homes have reported confirmed cases.
The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health announced today that the newly reported confirmed cases involved seven elderly homes and five disabled homes. Among them, the Spring (Western District) Nursing Home had a total of four residents and two residents yesterday (11th) and today. 25 residents and 4 employees are under quarantine.
In addition, the authorities announced that there were 214 new reported cases in schools today, involving 179 schools.
While 85 schools had two or more confirmed cases in the past seven days, none of them needed to be closed for a week today.

Spring (Western District) Nursing Home 29 people must be quarantined
Zhang Zhujun, director of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, announced today that there were 4,439 new confirmed cases.
As for residential care homes, a total of 12 residential care homes have reported confirmed cases today, including Buddhist Prajna Home for the Elderly Co., Ltd., Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service Lutheran Madam Leung Kei Yi Home for the Elderly, Jia Yi (Tai Po) Nursing homes and Shatin Longevity Palace, etc.
As for the Spring (Western District) Nursing Home, four residents and two staff were infected with the virus yesterday and today, and 25 residents and four staff were required to undergo quarantine.
As for residential care homes for the disabled, five new confirmed cases were reported today, including Kwun Tong Choi Yee Home Co., Ltd., the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong Bi-Love Home Dormitory, and the New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association Si Yue Yuan.
Among them, two residents of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Hung Fook Integrated Vocational Rehabilitation Center and Dormitory have tested positive, and 27 residents have to undergo quarantine.

Regarding schools, Zhang Zhujun pointed out that there were 214 new cases reported today, including 147 students and 67 teaching staff.
The cases involved 179 schools, including 42 kindergartens, 73 primary schools, 57 secondary schools and seven special schools.
And 85 schools have two or more confirmed cases in the past seven days, but no school has classes that need to be closed for a week today.
