Call of Duty has long since turned from a casual shooting game online to a Live Service game that receives frequent updates along with new content and new skins.

Unfortunately for Activision, the company was accused during the last month of plagiarism and copyright infringement for one of the skins it recently released for Call of Duty Vanguard and Warzone.

During the month, an online artist named Saillin posted photos and comparisons that indicate that Activision copied the character from her based on concept art images she previously illustrated.

The skin in question came in a bundle that players could purchase at the beginning of last July, called Loyal Samoyed for Operator Kim Tae Young, which gives the character the appearance of a tactical Samoyed dog in the game.

In the comparisons that Celine posted, she wrote: "I am the original artist behind the Loyal Samoyed skin in the upcoming Call of Duty update. Although I am a Call of Duty actress, I was very disappointed to see that a huge company like Activision simply stole the idea from me. I contacted the company for an explanation/compensation and I I hope the matter will be resolved soon."

When things started to pick up speed and talk about the issue started to rise online, Activision removed the skin in question and released a statement to the Polygon website and an apology to the artist: "We have a lot of respect for creative content creators. We loved the skin but we were wrong about the way we went about the process but removed it from the game. We apologize about the incident".

Activision's statement did not satisfy Celine, who replied to the company on Twitter and asked for an explicit explanation of how this happened, and claimed that it was only a formal answer.

Currently, the skin of the Samoyed dog has been removed from Call of Duty, but Activision has not yet found a replacement for it in the skins package it released.

This means that even players who paid for the full skins package now lack a skin.

Well done Activision.
