With the motto "100 percent Made in Germany", textile manufacturer Trigema from Burladingen stands out from the crowd.

How can a company in Germany still make such a promise today?

Burladingen - The textile manufacturer Trigema from Burladingen is known far beyond the borders of Baden-Württemberg.

Managing Director Wolfgang Grupp has the ability to place his values and strategies in a way that is effective in the media like hardly anyone else.

With the "100 percent Made in Germany" approach, Trigema is virtually alone in the textile industry.

The rising energy prices due to the Ukraine war are currently causing Burladinger to stumble.

However, Grupp emphasized that no layoffs are to be feared at Trigema.

How does the traditional company manage to survive in times of economic uncertainty?

BW24 reports on this.

Bonita and Wolfgang Grupp Junior (born 1989 and 1991), the children of the Trigema boss, have been thinking about the future of the company for some time.

And not for nothing: both in their early 30s already have a lot of responsibility in the company.

Bonita manages the areas of online trading and human resources, while Wolfgang Junior is responsible for business customers and IT projects.

In an interview with

familienunternehmen.eu

, they explain how Trigema manages to produce entirely in Germany.

According to Wolfgang Junior, there are "many adjustment screws that can be turned".

One constantly asks oneself how one can create even more efficient processes.

It is also important to produce optimal quantities.

"The quantity per variant must not be too small, but should be at least 100 to 200 pieces, depending on the article." Grupp Junior wants to focus on automation in the future and is planning a "polo shirt machine" as a replacement for seamstresses.

Bonita and Wolfgang Grupp Junior: Trigema wants to score with quality and fair production

According to Wolfgang Grupp Junior, in addition to the idea of efficiency, it is important to be courageous.

“Our father's great strength was always being able to say 'no' to a customer when it came to the price.

Since we produce 100 percent in Germany, our price is of course not very competitive in an international comparison.” Certainly you have smaller margins than some other big labels and also a smaller advertising budget.

"Therefore, we have to score with other characteristics, such as quality, sustainable and fair production and speed as well as flexibility."

Sustainability is “not a buzzword” for Wolfgang Grupp Junior.

While one often reads about "green washing" in the textile sector, Trigema is not dependent on such PR campaigns.

"We live it through and through," promises Grupp Junior.

For example, one does not use organic cotton if one is not "fully convinced" that it is "sustainable from A to Z".

In addition, there are no unnecessary frills in the products - such as superfluous goods tags or labels.

"We try to produce in a resource-efficient manner and to recycle as much as possible," emphasizes Grupp Junior.

"For example, leftovers are resold as cleaning rags." A special feature is the environmentally friendly clothing:

Bonita Grupp: "We have kept our down-to-earth attitude over the years"

For Bonita Grupp, the secret of Trigema's success is that many processes are handled internally.

“In the beginning you have to outsource things until you can build up the know-how internally.

For example, we have our own online shop.

but also various partners through whom we sell.

For example, we do all of the online marketing ourselves because we don’t want any external dependencies so we can react more flexibly.” This approach helped the company to be able to react flexibly to external circumstances, especially during the Corona period.

"When I talk about flexibility, that also means that we use employees flexibly," says Bonita.

“If less capacity is required in one area, employees are deployed to another area for a short time.

We have retained this down-to-earth attitude over the years.”
