On August 18, the Cineplex cinema in Erding will open two new halls with their own foyer and luxury seats.

In addition, there will soon be a flat rate ticket for all cinema fans.

Erding – A large plastic film is still hanging on the door in the Cineplex cinema, which leads to the rooms of the former dance school.

Behind them, craftsmen are at work, laying carpets or painting walls.

See you next Thursday.

Because from August 18, the two new cinemas are to be used.

Yesterday the operators presented Studios A and B.

It's a cinema within a cinema: "We have a separate foyer for the studios, which will be separated from the rest of the cinema by a double door," explained managing director Andreas Fläxl.

However, the door has not yet been installed - delivery bottlenecks.

"It will probably arrive on the last day before the opening." Unlike the foyer, where there are no couches or bar tables to be seen, Studio A is already ready for use.

It offers 46 seats, eight of which are luxury seats.

Only small things are missing in Studio B.

There are 40 seats there.

And there, too, the top row consists of eight luxury seats in which you can lie down alone or in pairs.

Three of the luxury seats are double seats.

This is also brand new in Erding.

In future, physical contact will not have to be limited to holding hands: "Your cinema loves you, come and cuddle," summarized cinema spokeswoman Karin Glück with a smile.

If you want to see the film comfortably with your legs up in the luxury seats, you have to accept an additional charge of four euros.

The remaining seats in the new studios cost the same as those in the existing ten cinema halls.

The new screens are each 6 by 3.50 meters in size.

They are played from the ceiling, there is no longer a projection room.

Since the modern projectors work very quietly, they could hang directly in the hall.

There are no longer physical films made of celluloid anyway, everything is digital.

"You can control them with a laptop or even with a smartphone," says Fläxl.

And they are also extremely energy-saving, as is the complete ventilation and cooling technology in the studios.

“It is heated or cooled here as required.” This means: When the hall is full, less heating is required.

Or the other way around.

Fläxl expects “considerable energy savings” from this.

But what is viewer behavior like at the moment?

"We are currently at around 60 percent of the numbers from 2019, i.e. before the pandemic," explains Fläxl.

The Cineplex team is working flat out to change that.

"We have to make sure that young people in particular don't forget how to go to the cinema," says the 37-year-old.

The new halls with luxury seats are a start.

And the next investments are already being prepared: "We will also equip five of our existing halls with luxury seats." The studios can also be rented for events such as company events or birthdays.

That's why it's not so impractical that they have their own separate foyer.

Other activities are also planned.

On Saturday and Sunday, 10./11.

September, a cinema festival takes place, which was initiated by the Main Association of German Film Theaters.

On this weekend after the Autumn Festival, all films in Erding, among other places, cost only five euros.

And at a later point in time, the Fläxl family wants to introduce a flat-rate ticket: for 25 euros you can go to the cinema as often as you want for 25 days - not only in Erding, but also in the Cineplex cinemas in Neufahrn and Vilsbiburg, the The Fläxl family is now in its fourth generation.

"We want to reach 100 percent again," says Fläxl confidently.

Glück is also optimistic: "On the opening weekend, just as many people visited the new Eberhofer thriller as three years ago."
