A number of Palestinians demanded during a demonstration in the city of Ramallah in the West Bank to save the lives of prisoners in the Israeli occupation detention centers and to release the hunger striker Khalil Awawda.

The Palestinian Wafa Agency stated that the participants in the demonstration in the city center raised the Palestinian flag and pictures of the martyrs and prisoners and chanted slogans calling for Awawda's immediate release, especially after his health seriously deteriorated following his second hunger strike for the 42nd day.

The demonstrators stressed that human justice requires that the international community pay attention to hundreds of Palestinian prisoners who are left prey to death without giving any consideration to their rights, while the occupation continues systematically a policy of medical neglect and torture against them.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club warned yesterday that the prisoner is on hunger strike to protest the crimes of the occupation against the prisoners in a very critical health condition and could be martyred at any moment, explaining that his cognitive abilities have been greatly damaged and that he is exposed to brain and nerve damage as a result of his long strike, and that he cannot The vision, as he suffers from confusion in the eyes and the inability to focus or move, calling on the international institutions concerned with the affairs of prisoners to take urgent action to release him.

Awawda had announced his first hunger strike on the third of last March and suspended it after 111 days on the twenty-first of June after pledges from the occupation authorities to release him, but they reneged on their pledges, which prompted him to resume his strike on the second of last July.
