The next holiday construction site on Holzkirchner Strasse is pending: On Tuesday, August 16, the municipal utilities will begin to close important district heating gaps on Erlkamer Strasse.

The passage in the "railway tunnels" will probably be closed for six weeks.

Holzkirchen

– In order to be able to route more climate-friendly geothermal energy from the drilling site in the Alte Au to the Holzkirchner district heating network, the municipal utilities have to dig up Erlkamer Straße again.

Work in the area under the two railway overpasses will start next week after Assumption Day on Tuesday 16th August.

Johannes Wenzel, district heating planner for the municipal works, expects a construction time of around six weeks.

Motorized traffic is expected to be completely closed by September 23rd.

Wenzel explained on request that the completion of the construction site at Oskar-von-Miller-Platz was awaited.

Since the closure there will be lifted on Saturday (August 13) and Oskar-von-Miller-Platz will be available again as an important hub and detour hub, the municipal utilities didn't want to waste any time.

The excavation is 90 meters long under the railway overpass.

"A crucial gap closure for our district heating," says Wenzel.

A main route is to transport the geothermal heat to the districts west of the railway line.

The heating center in the hospital street, for example, still supplies its “heat island” entirely with fossil fuels.

In addition, the gap closure helps that the four heating centers (Krankenhausstrasse, Batusa, Rosenheimer Strasse, Alte Au) support each other should the geothermal energy fail.

Large parts of the new main route were already buried in Erlkamer Straße and Münchner Straße in 2020/2021.

For the remaining section under the railway bridges, the license agreement with the DB was missing for a long time.

But now we can start.

Since digging has to be done anyway, the municipal utilities are also laying fiber optic packages as well as new power cables and water pipes.

"We don't know exactly where which lines are," says Wenzel;

it is therefore necessary to take a close look at where the voluminous district heating pipes can be routed.

During the first week of construction, the zebra crossing that secures the Bahnhofsweg crossing before the underpass is to remain open.

But then this connection should also be cut.

Pedestrians and cyclists should be able to pass the construction site in the tunnel via the northern sidewalk, at least on weekends.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Holzkirchen newsletter.
