Vigilance is total, the measures increasingly strict.
Faced with the drought and forest fires affecting France, the prefecture of Yvelines has just issued an order prohibiting the circulation and stopping of vehicles in the forest massifs, at least for the days of Thursday and this Friday.
However, it is possible to take the national, departmental and municipal roads which pass through forests.
But we must not stop.
Not that your car or your two-wheeler could catch fire, but more “to avoid incivility, indicates the prefecture to Parisian this Friday morning.
We don't want people throwing cigarette butts or glass bottles that could ignite and cause significant damage.
There is therefore no need to stop in a car park to have a picnic or to go for a walk, under penalty of a fine of 135 euros.

🔴 To limit the risk of #fire, @Prefet78 prohibits by prefectural order the traffic & parking of motorized vehicles in woods and forests until August 12, 2022 included.

State services have not referenced any history in this department where the forest represents nearly a third of the territory.
However, the decree specifies that the traffic ban “does not apply to public services, nor to forest owners and occupants”.
A decree likely to be extended
Beyond vehicles, all types of work “using mechanized means” are also concerned, except for those “justified by urgency”.
Similarly, “any demonstration in the woods and forests of Yvelines is prohibited” and it is naturally prohibited “to light or carry any fire, whatever it may be.

These measures, which only concern the days of Thursday and this Friday, are likely to be extended over time if conditions so require.
The Yvelines have experienced several fires in recent days, including one this week at the Flacourt composting center, which lasted 24 hours.
On August 6, 4 hectares of stubble also went up in smoke in Freneuse, near the A13 ramp.
Other fires took place during July in Vélizy-Villacoublay and Tilly, among others.
Sometimes because of a barbecue, sometimes because - probably - of a cigarette butt.
The forest also burned a lot at Rochefort-en-Yvelines on July 19, which was a dark day.
