Landsberg - "The situation has changed, but not relaxed," said Karin Schürmann from the technical and service supervision of the municipal day-care facilities, summarizing the care situation at the beginning of the new kindergarten year in September.

The topic dealt with the social committee in its last meeting before the summer break.

Still missing places.

There are currently 34 in the kindergarten and twelve in the crèche area.

According to Schürmann, however, the numbers are constantly changing, as inquiries come in almost every day, sometimes from parents from Munich or Berlin who are about to move to Landsberg.

"It just doesn't stop."

We are therefore happy that the daycare center on the Wiesenring will be open again on September 1st, with four groups instead of the previous two.

The city took over responsibility for the facility until the end of August next year after the previous operator had to close it due to a lack of staff.

The fact that enough employees have now been found to run four groups - for this Schürmann received a lot of praise from Mayor Doris Baumgartl (UBV) and the committee members.

After the occupancy of the facility on Wiesenring and with the help of interim solutions, an offer can probably be made to all children who need a daycare place between September 1st and the end of the year, Schürmann announced.

As had already been announced during the city council meeting a week earlier, the new day-care center on the Reischer Talweg will not be ready in time for September 1st.

The reason for this is delays in the delivery of the floor coverings.

According to Schürmann, the two kindergarten groups that are to move to the Reischer Talweg, i.e. in the east of Landsberg, will remain in the Regenbogen facility in Lechfeldstrasse, in the west of Landsberg.

This is anything but unproblematic for some families.

"Not all parents who live in the east are mobile." Some would call "desperately" because they don't know how to bring their children to Lechfeldstrasse.

The BRK, as the body responsible for the facility, was therefore asked to set up a platform for carpooling.

For data protection reasons, the city cannot take action itself.

In the Schlossberg school

The crèche groups planned for the Reischer Talweg are to remain in the old building of the Schlossbergschule until the new day-care center opens.

In view of this extended interim solution, the parents were "more and more suspicious", reported Karin Schürmann.

However, she assured that it was only about September and that one hoped to be able to move into the daycare center on the Reischer Talweg in October.

"It keeps repeating itself - we don't have enough places," criticized kindergarten officer Daniela Groß (Greens).

Further interim solutions would be needed until the planned day care centers in Urban Life on the Papierbach (ULP) and on the Wiesengrund were realized.

First containers?

A facility with at least four groups is to be built in the new Wiesengrund construction area on Schongauer Strasse.

Six groups (two kindergarten and four crèche groups) would actually be needed – but a building of this size would exceed the floor and floor space specified in the development plan.

Alternatively, an interim solution using containers should be examined.

However, this only makes sense if the transition to a subsequent or existing facility is ensured, because according to Schürmann, containers only have a service life of six years.

In addition, finding staff is even more difficult with this type of accommodation.
