The Tutzinger guild organizes a lake festival with a very special race - and also a joust.

Tutzing - Not only many locals rave about the "most beautiful beer garden on Lake Starnberg": The Tutzinger Seefest has practically leased this honorary title for a long time.

The traditional event in the special atmosphere on the bank has been canceled for three years - in 2019 due to bad weather, then twice because of Corona.

For Sunday, August 14th, the local folklore club "Tutzinger Gilde" is finally organizing a lake festival again.

This time, however, in the Bleicherpark and not in the Kustermannpark as before.

The lake festival is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday and last until nightfall.

Sunset is supposed to be at 8:45 p.m. that day.

There should be several highlights.

One of them will be a Fischwandl race around 2pm.

At around 4:30 p.m. and until 5:30 p.m., a joust is scheduled.

Eight teams, each with two people, are to take part in the Fischwandl race.

Registrations are still possible, by e-mail to registration@Fischwandl.de.

The jousting is limited to eight participants.

The Fischwandl race premiered at the Seefest 2018

The Fischwandl race premiered at the Seefest 2018.

Years ago, Rolf Bäck, who is a fisherman in Unterzeismering, discovered an old fish trough in the attic of his boathouse.

Bäck and Richie Siepmann, who often go fishing together, came up with the idea for the race.

Sebastian Graba and Robert Radtke, who run a boat building business in Haunshofen, have made two new Fischwandln based on the old model.

Rowing these troughs is obviously a lot of fun.

Depending on the waves, however, it can get quite shaky.

Eight teams, each with two people, will fight for victory in this very special kind of competition.

The organizational team led by Florian Schotter, Martin Greinwald and Johann Lettner has been preparing for the lake festival for weeks.

The jousting boats and their rowers also play an important role, and they have to be careful to ensure that everything is fair.

All in all, around 30 helpers are available for the lake festival, some of them entire families.

There is a lot to do.

The Bleicherpark is transformed into a fairground, beer benches and tables for 500 people are set up, food and drinks are prepared.

There is coffee and homemade cakes, the popular smoked char, fish rolls, bratwurst, Wiesn pretzels, radishes, pickles and cheese.

The "Würmsee Bohemians" provide the appropriate musical accompaniment in the pavilion.

Even the schoolyard next door can be used to some extent - this was permitted by the Starnberg district office, which has been the sponsor of the high school for two years.
