– For the first time, Mayor Frank Zellner traveled with a delegation from Peißenberg to the French partner community of St.-Brevin les Pins.

This is what Anne-Marie Entfellner from the "Market Peißenberg Partnership Committee" writes in her report on the four-day trip.

This was arranged in such a way that the guests from Peißenberg could celebrate the French national holiday on July 14th in the partner municipality on the Atlantic coast, which commemorates the storming of the Bastille in 1789 every year.

The mayor of Peißenberg received a very special honor: he was allowed to lead the procession at the traditional parade with the dignitaries from St. Brevin.

They were followed by a brass band, flag bearers, club members and the delegation from Bavaria.

First the refreshment, then the work

The parade was followed by dignified speeches - first in front of, then in the ballroom.

Distinguished citizens were honored with a small drink.

This was followed by a small group lunch of moules frites, which came from the mussel beds twelve kilometers away, and new potato fries.

Freshly strengthened, the guests from Peißenberg and the committee from St. Brevin got down to planning the anniversary of the town partnership, which will be celebrated next year.

The plans were finalized the next morning at a working meeting with representatives of the clubs.

Among other things, a project should be offered in art class.

In addition to planning for the anniversary, there was a leisure and cultural program for the guests;

These included a picnic in the shade of the pine trees, a hike through the Atlantic dunes, a tour of the Naval Museum, a tour of the partner community, a visit to an art exhibition in the dunes, and the traditional July 14th night fireworks display for which many celebrate came to the beach.

There was an official welcome reception in the town hall, at which the Peißenbergers were greeted by Yannick Morez, the mayor of St. Brevin, among others.

Impressed by his visit to the twin town, the mayor of Peißenberg returned to the market town.

As early as next year there will be a reunion with the friends from France for the anniversary.

Partnership almost 50 years old

The partnership between St. Brevin and Peißenberg began almost 50 years ago: Maria Fritz was a teacher and looked after groups of schoolchildren from Brittany who were vacationing in the district.

This led to an exchange with return visits.

The partnership was officially concluded in 1986.

Sometimes it was lived more, sometimes less intensively and almost fell asleep in between.

Since a delegation from France took part in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the market survey, contact between the two places has intensified again.
