Proceeds from the Hausham school summer festival go towards the expansion of air-raid shelters

Hausham – Money for a school in Ukraine was raised at the Hausham elementary and middle school summer party.

It flows into the expansion of air raid shelters.

On the occasion of the summer party at Hausham Elementary and Middle School, the Ukrainian welcoming class made a large painting that was then auctioned off at the party.

The municipality bought it for 500 euros.

The handover took place recently at the meeting of the municipal council.

Headmaster Markus Rewitzer informed the committee and the audience that a total of 4,000 euros could be donated to the school in Kropywnyzkyj, around 300 kilometers south-east of the capital Kyiv.

The money will be used to safely expand basement rooms so that classes can continue there during air raids.

Mayor Jens Zangenfeind not only honored the painting as a prominent auctioneer, but also as a buyer for the community.

"I hope that was okay," asked the head of the town hall at the meeting with a wink in the direction of treasurer Martin Reisberger for subsequent absolution.

In the future, the picture will hang in the town hall and build a bridge to the school in Kropywnyzkyj.

The industrial city and capital of the Kirovohrad Oblast with almost 230,000 inhabitants is located around 300 kilometers from Kyiv in the Dnieper highlands.

The contact came about through Iryna Titov, a lady from the house who went to school there herself and who, as Zangenfeind said, has been working tirelessly day and night for months as the heart and soul of the group of helpers for the Ukrainian war refugees in the community.

Air raid shelters for school in Ukraine

Headmaster Rewitzer described the conditions under which teaching had to take place in many Ukrainian schools as unimaginable and strange: "We wanted to help in a targeted manner and therefore decided to use the summer festival to collect donations." Shirts auctioned.

Together with the proceeds from the buffet and the play stations as well as a subsidy from the parents' council, 4,000 euros were raised.

All of the money goes into expanding the school basement in Kropywnyzkyj so that it can serve as an air raid shelter and classes can continue there.

"I think the money is well invested and something right is happening with it," said Rewitzer with conviction.
