The Indian author Salman Rushdie, who infuriated the Muslim community following his book, was stabbed today (Friday) in New York during a lecture he gave.
Over the years, Rushdie suffered threats on his life, after he wrote "The Devil's Verses" in 1988, and as a result he was heavily criticized for the way he portrayed the Prophet Muhammad.
