The district of Starnberg has the most income millionaires

District - In 2018, 6089 "income millionaires" lived in Bavaria, 387 more than in the previous year.

As the Bavarian State Office for Statistics further reports on the basis of the results of the wage and income tax statistics from this period that are now available, 54.8 percent of taxpayers with annual income of more than one million euros were resident in Upper Bavaria.

The highest density of income millionaires was recorded in the district of Starnberg.

The income millionaires accounted for only 0.1 percent of all taxpayers in 2018, but at 5.1 percent they achieved a disproportionately high share of the total amount of income.

At the same time, they paid 6.1 billion euros, or 9.8 percent of the total income tax to be assessed.

Due to the progressive tax rate, the proportion of the assessed income tax was higher than the proportion of the total amount of income.

Overall, there were an average of 4.7 millionaires per 10,000 inhabitants in Bavaria in 2018, compared to 4.4 in 2017.

The highest density of millionaires was in the district of Starnberg with 22.2 income millionaires per 10,000 inhabitants.

It was followed by the district of Munich with 13.2, the district of Miesbach with 10.4, the city of Munich with 9.9 and the independent city of Memmingen with 8.7 income millionaires per 10,000 inhabitants.
