The tragedy occurred this Friday at the very beginning of the afternoon, in the Pasteur district. A neighbor who witnessed the scene and the firefighters

A child aged 2 and a half died this Friday afternoon in Villepinte after falling from the fifth floor of an apartment building located at 2 avenue André-Malraux, in the Pasteur district, not far from the Jean-Rostand high school.

The drama took place at the very beginning of the afternoon, shortly after 1 p.m.

When the firefighters arrived on the spot, the young boy was in "cardiorespiratory arrest" according to the Paris fire brigade (BSPP).

Despite the care that was given to him, he died on the spot as a result of his injuries.

According to the first findings of the emergency services, no adult was present in the apartment of the very young victim.

The child would have climbed various objects on his balcony, before falling.

He was found on the ground, seriously injured.

According to our information, a neighbor witnessed the fall.

He then went down to provide first aid to the child, and alert the firefighters.

Unfortunately in vain.

Villepinte town hall ensures that it is ready to help the family.

This type of domestic accident mainly concerns boys under the age of 6

The Paris fire brigade (BSPP) wants to “send a message of prevention during this period of high heat when the windows remain open in many apartments.

You must always be extremely vigilant with children who can very quickly climb, for example a chair, and fall into the void.

Fatal falls of young children occur most of the time in summer, when the high temperatures lead the occupants of an apartment to open their windows.

Two weeks ago, a 3-year-old boy died by falling from the eleventh floor of a building in Grenoble (Isère), after having escaped the vigilance of his parents.

Last summer in Bobigny, a child of the same age lost his life when he fell from the fourth floor of a building on rue des Républicains-Espagnols.

According to a survey on this type of domestic accident conducted by Public Health France in 2013, 62% of victims of accidental falls from high-rise buildings are under the age of 6.

These children are 70% boys.

Half of the time, a piece of furniture was under the opening through which the victims fell.

And in 82% of cases, an adult was present in the home at the time of the fall.
