Where's the Burger King?

Negotiations with neighbors slow down fast-food giants

There should be fries and burgers here: Burger King is planning a new restaurant at the Hagn-Kreisel, but needs a part of the neighboring property for it.

A Burger King is to move to a roundabout in Esting, near the B471.

But for two years it has become quiet, at least in public.

Apparently there is a problem with a property.

– It has been two years since it became known: a fast-food giant wants to open a new fast-food restaurant at the Hagn-Kreisel in Olching.

The city gave the green light.

The building committee gave its approval for exemption from two conditions: the drive-in terminal will be built outside the building boundaries and the green area along Schloßstraße will be narrowed in some places from five to four meters.

Then it got quiet.

But there is one thing you can always rely on these days: the internet never forgets.

And so the question arose recently in the group "You're from Olching, if...?" what actually happened to the planned Burger King.

The company itself is vague when asked by the daily newspaper and evades standard answers.

One is basically already interested in the location in Olching, for example.

However, details cannot be given.

There is this information from the town hall: Negotiations between Burger King and a property owner are still ongoing, so far no agreement has been reached.

This is obviously an additional area that is necessary for the development.

The currently fallow land on which to build is right next to the Bock auto shop and the Esso petrol station.

As with other fast food restaurants, a "drive-in" is provided, so you can drive to a counter and pick up your food without getting out.

The restaurant has a total of 350 square meters of floor space and a 60 square meter terrace.

There are 66 seats inside.

At least that was the situation at the time.

At the time, however, political enthusiasm was limited.

The city council factions of FWO and Greens as well as ÖDP city councilor Ulrike Girtner wanted to overturn the decision of the building committee.

One reason: The commercial area at Hagn-Kreisel was supposed to give local companies the opportunity to expand on site.

At the time, no one would have thought of system gastronomy.

The Greens also feared that waste would be dumped in the countryside and traffic would increase.

After all, the location at a junction on the B 471 is favorable.

On the part of the SPD and the CSU, there was again a strong headwind in the direction of the anti-fast food alliance, which they accused of arbitrariness.

With a Greek there would not have been this discussion, said Karl Haschke (SPD) at the time.
