Gabala Dance Theater Ensemble arrived in Damascus from Jableh to present its show that toured the cultural center in Kafr Sousa between the heritage of the provinces and the world civilizations that embraced the ancient Syrian civilization.

The show, titled “The Country of the Sun Meets,” included ten dance panels that focused on the heritage of the Syrian governorates, from the southern region to the eastern region, the island and the Hauran plain, accompanied by folkloric songs that lived in the minds of Syrians.

The show included a dance panel entitled Syria, the country of the sun, which sang the proud glories of Syria, evoking the band's song, Syria, the country of the sun, by the late Mayada Bsilis, in addition to dances that moved the audience's imagination to the civilization of India and the Spanish civilization, characterized by the beauty of performance and costumes.

The director of the show and founder of the band, Afaf Al-Abdullah, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that this show sheds light on the blending of ancient Syrian civilization with other civilizations such as Indian and Spanish.

The troupe, according to Al-Abdullah, sought to highlight the younger generations and children who brilliantly perform different types of international dances, pointing out that the troupe presents dance of all kinds and focuses in all its performances on the Syrian heritage.

Choreographer Muhammad Othman pointed out that the troupe presents all kinds of dance theatre, and today's show is nuggets of the meeting of ancient civilizations that intersected with the arts of Syrian civilization through the Silk Road and created a wonderful cultural blending.

In turn, Director of Damascus Culture Naima Suleiman explained that the show aims to shed light on the Syrian heritage by presenting different paintings from all governorates, taking into account the element of modernity in the show.

It is noteworthy that Gabala is the ancient Hellenistic name for the city of Jableh. The band was founded in 2014 and has many dance theatrical works such as Syria, my love, the wedding, Sons of Life, Joseph’s Brothers and Spirit of the East.
