The “Together for Self-Sufficiency” initiative targets people with disabilities in As-Suwayda by providing financial support for micro-family projects with the aim of encouraging the children of this segment to work and produce.

Regarding this initiative, which is held in cooperation with the branch of the Syrian Association for the Physically Handicapped, the coordinator of the initiative, Dr. Rabia Zahlan, explained in a statement to SANA reporter today that this step is in line with the objectives of the voluntary development initiative to spread a culture of production, stressing the importance of going through it to the segment of people with disabilities, making them self-reliant to face the burdens of life. difficult and demanding requirements.

Zahlan indicated that this step is in addition to what the initiative has done since its inception during the last period to date, with the support of about 250 home and family projects for various segments of society, which combined raising poultry, dairy and cheese, home cooking, sewing, handicrafts, agricultural projects, Arabic bread, the manufacture of hand creams, beehives, and others.

For his part, the head of the administrative committee of the branch of the Syrian Association for the Physically Handicapped in Sweida, Nizar Shuja, said in a similar statement that the launch of the initiative was with projects for various handicrafts, including the manufacture of accessories, oriental antiques, and agricultural purposes, provided that support continues in coordination with the initiative during the coming period.

The “Together for Self-Sufficiency” initiative, which was launched in 2020, works to bring together well-to-do people who provide support on the one hand, and people who are able to work and produce and wish to establish small home businesses, under an agreement between them that the financier will recover the amount in convenient monthly payments. second family.
