The charred corpse of a 76-year-old man was found on Saturday in Ajaccio in the trunk of a car, the Ajaccio prosecutor's office told AFP, confirming information from the daily Corse-Matin.
Without news, a member of the family of the septuagenarian reported the facts after discovering the body, rue de la Sposata, in the city center, in the middle of the morning, said the prosecution.
A homicide investigation was opened by the Ajaccio prosecutor's office and entrusted to the judicial police.
The victim, a resident of Ajaccio, was only known to the justice services for an old minor offense which dates back to the 2000s, said the prosecution.
