CDU leader Friedrich Merz is in the hospital after a fall.
The 66-year-old has already had surgery for a broken collarbone.

.: After his broken collarbone and the associated hospitalization on Thursday became known, the CDU chairman Friedrich Merz (CDU) apparently received numerous wishes for recovery.
Now the CDU politician also commented personally - and was confident.
"I would like to thank you for the many good wishes!
It'll be fine again," Merz wrote on Twitter on Friday evening.
Merz apparently broke his left collarbone on Thursday in a sports accident, as a spokesman for the 66-year-old said on Friday.
He had a successful operation on Friday morning.
The collarbone fracture - technical term: clavicle fracture - is one of the most common bone fractures.
The approximately 12 to 15 centimeters long, S-shaped collarbone lies between the shoulder and breastbone.
Fractures usually occur when people fall on their shoulders with great force - for example while cycling.

: Berlin – The CDU leader and opposition leader in the German Bundestag, Friedrich Merz, is in the hospital after a fall.
The press spokesman for the 66-year-old, Armin Peter, confirmed this on Twitter on Friday.
"Friedrich Merz broke his collarbone in a fall while on vacation in Bavaria yesterday.
He has already had surgery and is on the road to recovery," Peter wrote.

A spokesman for the 66-year-old told the German Press Agency in Berlin that Merz sustained the injury in a sports accident.
According to reports, Merz did not have to be taken to the hospital with blue lights.
However, it is not known exactly how the 66-year-old injured himself.
Merz likes to do sports in his free time.
It is known that the CDU chairman likes to go running and swimming and likes to cycle.
On Thursday, the head of the CDU gave an interview to the German Press Agency while on vacation, criticizing the traffic light government's lack of willingness to cooperate.
