City hall café in Wolfratshausen opens: the date has been set - the new concept too

The café in the town hall complex opens in September, with a new name and a new concept.
From breakfast to cocktails, there is a lot on offer.
Wolfratshausen - An older couple is standing in the entrance.
After the shopping spree, the two would like to take a look at the new café.
You see gray tiles and light brown parquet, a long row of benches along the wall and a half-finished bar. You see a new beer pump, a chic cake display case and a counter waiting for its cover.
The Rathauscafé is still a construction site - but that should change in a few weeks.

As Michaela and Hans-Joachim Kunstmann explain when they visit our newspaper, the opening date has already been set: right on time for the Wirtefest on Saturday, September 17th, there will be celebrations with paella, Spanish live music and one or the other cocktail.
Until then, there is a lot of work to be done.
"It will be sporty - but it will be," says Michaela Kunstmann.
Even if there is obviously still a lot missing in the guest room, "we are well on time".

It is already apparent that the managing director duo is not only changing the name of the restaurant - "Rat.Haus.Café" will be on the signs - but also massively changing the look: "It's simpler," says Hans-Joachim art man.
Only on the ceiling, where bare lightbulbs are still hanging, does he want to attach more or less pompous chandeliers.
Otherwise, the restaurant should do as little as possible without kitschy decorations.
"We don't make it very cozy." Instead, one could call Kunstmann's performances appropriate – there's a reason for that: something is supposed to be offered in the café seven days a week.
From breakfast at the weekend to lunch specials and coffee and cake to cocktails in the evening.
In terms of atmosphere, such a wide range is a tightrope walk.

The café would like to start with a small standard menu.
"In addition, we make weekly changing dishes," explains the operator - with seasonal and regional ingredients, that's what she values.
The cakes are homemade, "and we have great suppliers from the region".
While many restaurateurs are desperately looking for staff, the new café has already found its core team.
"But we will still hire a few temporary workers," says the managing director.

The anticipation of the opening can be seen in the new operators.
It has been clear for over a year that they will take over the restaurant.
The mayor introduced Kunstmann Food & Hotel GmbH as the tenant for the property in April 2021.
At that time, the head of the town hall and the operator duo expressed the hope that the new café could start as early as August 2021.
A lot has happened since then: delivery bottlenecks for individual components caused delays, major conversions to the electronics and in the basement protracted the construction.
Completely new cooling systems and a complex ventilation system were installed.

Now the tenants are looking to the future.
They talk about the Wirtefest and another small celebration with invited guests and small snacks, with which they want to start a new era of the town hall café.
They explain that they want to be a meeting point for people who want to meet up with friends and talk about a bookcase that they will set up in the café and that the city library will update regularly.
They chat about themed evenings and balmy summer evenings in the inner courtyard of the town hall.
"We're looking forward to getting started," says Michaela Kunstmann.
