That came as a surprise: Eva Kellner, the climate protection manager for the two municipalities of Schäftlarn and Straßlach, resigned.

What's next?

Schäftlarn/Strasslach

– The community of Straßlach-Dingharting wants to reorganize the local heating supply.

And Schäftlarn plans to participate in the wind energy project in Forstenrieder Park.

Now, however, the two municipalities have been temporarily slowed down a little in their activities in the green area.

The climate protection manager, who was shared by both municipalities, has resigned.

Eva Kellner will retire on September 30th.

She has found a job in Munich where she lives.

"We regret the step," says Hans Sienerth, non-party mayor of Straßlach-Dingharting.

However, projects would not be delayed by the personnel, and the funding will also be suspended until a successor is found.

"No project comes to a standstill, and the cooperation with Schäftlarn continues", assures Sienerth.

Many projects initiated

Even if the climate protection concepts in the municipalities are not yet complete - some things have already been started.

Both municipalities want to convert the street lighting to LED and equip the municipal properties with PV systems.

Even if it's not so easy to get started in this area, "prices are getting higher every two weeks," says Eva Kellner.

"The market is currently completely overheated", which is why the Ebersberg-Munich energy agency is no longer offering the popular bundle campaigns.

Cycling and signage concept

Furthermore, Eva Kellner, who studied human geography and sustainability, has launched a cycle traffic and signage concept for both communities.

The two municipalities also want to take the "Implementation Program ++" set up by the Energy Agency and the district to support municipalities in exploiting their development potential for the energy transition.

And while Schäftlarn would like to renaturate the monastery streams, Straßlach regards the wood chip power plant as a "flagship project", as Sienerth puts it.

"Other than that, we're planning a lot of smaller stories," says the head of the town hall.

Among other things, an expansion of the energy promotion program is planned, which also subsidizes people who buy an e-bike or an energy-saving refrigerator.
