Day care center in Sauerlach costs 400,000 euros more than planned – the municipal council still agrees

The Sauerlach municipal council reluctantly approved an additional 400,000 euros for the conversion of the day-care center.

Sauerlach - Mayor Barbara Bogner (UBV) seemed almost relieved: "The lists are correct!" The additional expenditure for the conversion of the "Sternschnuppe" daycare center of 400,000 euros could thus be approved in the municipal council.

It wasn't a matter of course for a long time: The current renovation measures at the daycare center in Sauerlach are more expensive than expected.

While a total of 500,000 euros were earmarked for this in the 2022 budget, according to the responsible architectural office Zach from Otterfing, a further 400,000 euros are needed to complete the construction work.

Responsible for this are "among other things, the current economic effects on construction prices", as stated in the draft resolution.

Sauerlach: Criticism from the municipal council

However, the total cost statement presented beforehand turned out to be a veritable jumble of numbers and caused a great deal of frustration in the municipal council.

For example, at one point the billing amount was shown as 14,000 euros, while elsewhere it turned up at just 8,000 euros.

Correct or offset: The origin of the difference of 6000 euros was not so easy to understand.

In addition, some spreadsheets had an incorrect heading.

In short: Against this background, the municipal councils did not want to simply wave the required 400,000 euros through, so that the topic was now back on the agenda.

However, the approval did not go through without criticism.

“Why is there this abundance of supplements?” complained about UBV Councilor Götz von Borries.

And why does the architectural office's data have to be painstakingly entered again at the municipal administration, which had proven to be error-prone.

“We live in the 21st century!” says von Borries.

For municipal councilor Ursula Gresser (FDP), however, it was incomprehensible why the original cost estimate "was set so low".

Differences of up to 20 percent for some construction areas are "a bit too much", according to Gresser.

The fact that "it is unclear since when the architect knew about the additional costs and never approached us with the approval of additional budget funds" was also displeasing, according to Barbara Bogner, head of the town hall.

In the end, it seemed, there was a remnant of uneasiness among the local councillors.

"It remains vague," said CSU parliamentary group spokesman Michael Hohenleitner in advance.

Nevertheless, the municipal council finally approved the additional budget funds.
