Donetsk-Sana
The command of the forces of the Donetsk People's Republic announced today that 40 people were injured of varying degrees across the republic due to the Ukrainian Lipstock (Butterfly) remote-detonated anti-personnel mines.
The RIA Novosti news agency quoted the leadership as saying in a statement, "40 civilian casualties, including two children, were recorded throughout the republic due to the explosion of these mines," noting that one of the injured later died in hospital of his wounds.
The statement indicated that on the tenth of August, 36 civilians were injured as a result of the explosion of these mines.
It is noteworthy that the Ukrainian army began bombing the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic with munitions containing plastic butterfly mines made in the shape of a green petal.
This mine, which is prohibited by international treaties, is designated for inflicting injuries on the lower limbs of individuals, and its danger increases by its camouflaged green color, which generally deceives civilians, and its shape that attracts children to play with it, as it explodes as soon as the foot steps on it.
