Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger asserted that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization "NATO" made a mistake by giving promises to Ukraine that it could join its ranks, pointing out that the security concerns expressed by Russian President Vladimir Putin should be taken seriously.
"It was a mistake on the part of NATO to give signals to Ukraine about the possibility of its joining it ... and the security concerns expressed by the Russian president should be taken seriously," TASS news agency quoted Kissinger as saying in an interview with the American Wall Street Journal today, explaining that Ukraine had to To play a neutral role as Finland in relations between Russia and the West.
Kissinger pointed out that Ukraine represents a group of territories that gravitate towards Russia and that Russia considers its territory, although some Ukrainians do not agree with this.
