14-year-old Liron Barmi was run over to death tonight (Saturday) after being hit by a vehicle on Route 40 in Petah Tikva, while on her way to visit a friend.
She was found by an MDA team that arrived at the scene, and evacuated her during resuscitation operations to the Bilinson Hospital in the city - where she was later pronounced dead. The police were called to the scene and began investigating the circumstances of the accident.
"We don't know what exactly happened," said her aunt Simona Berami-Alzaid. She was walking with her friend.

Barmi-Alzaid continued and said that Liron was a special, smart and very mature girl.
"Life with a single mother has matured her, she helped her a lot with her little brother," she shared.
"We are shocked. At first we thought she was riding a scooter but in the end it wasn't. I can't believe this is happening to us again, my niece died suddenly of a brain aneurysm four years ago when she was 21 years old."

MDA paramedic Tomer Payne, who arrived at the scene, said: "We saw a young woman in her twenties unconscious in the middle of the road, she suffered a multi-system injury, we gave her medical treatment when she was not breathing and without a pulse and we performed advanced and prolonged resuscitation operations even while evacuating her to the hospital when she was in critical condition."
