Tanja Hertel has to end her fundraiser hike for "Doctors Without Borders".

Goat Loki needs a break and is looking for a new home

Dorfen

– As promising as the campaign started, it is now over so abruptly.

Tanja Hertel and billy goat Loki raised 500 euros on their fundraiser hike in the first week.

The woman from Dorfen left Zeil near Buchbach with the young billy goat two weeks ago to collect money for “Doctors Without Borders” and found a lot of sympathy in the district.

But now Loki bucks.

The little kid has been back at home in Zeil since Tuesday.

The heat and Loki's early "puberty" put Hertel's hiking plans on hold for the time being.

The rutting season for goats usually begins between seven and 15 months of age.

"Loki is four months old and everyone said it couldn't happen," says Hertel, half frustrated, half amused.

As soon as they passed a pasture with sheep, Loki couldn't be stopped.

While Loki is initially recovering in his herd of goats in Zeil, the 50-year-old uses the time to wash the tent and develop ideas.

The two of them had spent such a relaxing weekend.

A visit to the alpaca farm in Wartenberg was a special experience.

"Very nice people welcomed us there, and Loki felt like he was in paradise." Only the alpacas left him alone, while the billy goat complained at them all the time.

The visit to the village festival in Aich near Moosburg was also a success.

At the Ziegenhof in Zeil, however, the mood is a bit tense after Loki's premature return.

Since there is already a billy goat in the herd, there is a scuffle between the two.

Goat farmer Renate Stadler fears: "Loki can't stay much longer."

Hertel herself lives in a terraced house and cannot accommodate him, so she is hoping for goat friends in the district who can take him in.

Because she still has a lot to do with him.

On Sunday, August 21, she will hike to Adlstrass with Loki.

At Matthias Tafelmeier's farm, all fans of the fundraiser can pet Loki and go for a spin with him from around 3 p.m.

Hertel is hoping for more donations for Doctors Without Borders.

The fate of an African family on the children's island in Erding, which is managed by the kindergarten teacher, gave her the idea.

She has set herself a goal of 10,000 euros, and she wants to stick to it, giving up is not an option for her.

She wants to start the fundraiser hike again by spring next year at the latest.

Until then, she will train with Loki.

And until then, the villager is planning small campaigns that she will announce on the social networks Facebook and Instagram under "Restoration of Balance".
