The Pakistani authorities announced today that the number of victims of the monsoon floods that hit the southwestern province of Balochistan in the past few weeks has risen to 186.
"Monsoon floods caused by torrential rains have killed 85 men, 45 women and 56 children in Balochistan and injured 75 others," Pakistan's Dunya TV channel quoted the Balochistan Regional Emergency Situations Directorate as saying.
The rains and floods also killed more than 23,000 heads of livestock and poultry, destroyed more than 180,000 homes, and damaged 16 bridges.
