The Hama Agriculture Directorate estimated that the governorate’s lands would produce 26,667 tons of peaches and peaches during the current agricultural season.
The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Ashraf Bakir, told SANA reporter that the area planted with peach trees is 18,447 irrigated hectares, containing 727,512 trees, and 645 hectares are rainfed, containing 24,873 trees, indicating that initial expectations indicate the production of 19,368 tons, including 19218 tons in irrigated lands, compared to 150 tons in rainfed areas.
He pointed out that the area planted with peach trees in the various regions of the governorate amounts to 7,502 hectares of irrigated and 1,445 hectares of rainfed, which is expected to produce 7,299 tons of peach fruits, of which 6,834 tons are in irrigated lands and 465 tons are rainfed.
The places where peach and peach trees are planted are concentrated in the agricultural departments of Hama, Soran and Mhardeh.
