Russia warned today (Saturday) that if the United States puts it on the US State Department's list of countries that support terrorism, there will be no turning back.

The director of the North American Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexander Drachev, said in an interview with the Russian news agency "Tass": "The West, under the authority of the United States, trampled on international law and violated rules that are a complete taboo in the diplomatic world."

In this context, Darchev mentioned the legislative initiative currently being discussed in the United States regarding the inclusion of Russia in the list of countries that support terrorism.

"If the initiative passes, it means that the United States will pass the point of no return, and this will cause heavy damage to mutual relations, including lowering the level of representation and even severing relations. The Americans have received a warning in this regard."

Darchev also said that the United States is gradually becoming more and more a side in the conflict.

According to him, any confiscation of Russian property will completely destroy relations between the parties.

"Such a thing would cause irreversible damage, and it is not in our or the United States' interest," the Russian diplomat said.

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the West froze about half of Russia's gold and foreign currency balances, which had previously been worth $640 billion.

Western officials, including EU Foreign Minister Joseph Borrell, have proposed confiscating the frozen assets to finance Ukraine's future reconstruction.

It is believed that Darchev referred to these assets in his words.

The United States and its allies have also frozen assets worth $30 billion belonging to tycoons with ties to Putin, including yachts, helicopters, real estate and art. The US Justice Department has asked Congress to give it broader powers to seize assets of oligarchs to pressure Russia.
