The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today that its forces and the People's Police of the Donetsk Republic have completely liberated the town of Pesky in the republic.
Russia Today website quoted Russian Defense spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov as saying in a media briefing that the town of Pesky is one of the strongest strongholds of the Ukrainian forces in Donbass, and as a result of the offensive operations of the Russian army and the Donetsk People's Police, it was liberated from the Ukrainian forces.
Konashenkov added that the Russian air and missile strikes and offensive operations of the joint forces during the past 24 hours led to the elimination of more than 70 Ukrainian soldiers, the wounding of 300 others in the Kharkov region, the liquidation of up to 270 extremist nationalist elements, in addition to the destruction of 22 pieces of military equipment and the elimination of two companies. Konashenkov confirmed that the Russian forces destroyed in the Kramatorsk Donetsk region a US-made Hummers missile launcher and an ammunition depot, while two Ukrainian Mi-24 helicopters were destroyed on the ground in Nikolayev province, noting that the Russian army targeted four command centers in addition to forces and weapons. And Ukrainian equipment in 143 regions during the past hours, targeting two platoons of “Grad” rocket launchers, three platoons of Akatsya guns and five platoons of “D30” howitzers in Donetsk.
Konashenkov added that Russian air defenses shot down four Ukrainian drones and intercepted four HIMARS rocket launchers.
Konashenkov said that since the beginning of the special military operation, 267 Ukrainian planes, 148 helicopters, 1,736 drones, 365 anti-aircraft missile systems, 4,297 tanks and other armored vehicles, 798 rocket launchers, 3,295 pieces of field artillery and mortars and 4,858 special military vehicles have been destroyed.
