The parish council of the Catholic parish of Sankt Andreas had called for reflection.
Deacon Klaus Klonowski asked why a young life had to end like this - and confessed that he could not give an answer.
In addition to words from the Sermon on the Mount, Klonowski chose modern songs that deal with loss, farewell and death for the common commemoration.
Xavier Naidoo sang "This way won't be easy" and Herbert Grönemeyer "The Way", a song he wrote for his deceased wife, over loudspeakers.
A recurring line of verse: "Life is not fair".
