Wolfratshausen – Children, carers and parents recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the St. Nantovinus kindergarten with a ceremony accompanied by musical contributions.

The care facility in Wolfratshausen is of particular importance to Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner.

In the garden of the kindergarten Klaus Heilinglechner girls and boys sang a special serenade.

"Where has the mayor played in the sand and got really comfortable in the deep mud?" they trilled.

Everyone knew the answer: This incident happened in the kindergarten founded in 1972 on Weidacher Hauptstraße.

Memories of Aunt Traudl

The town hall chief was later followed by his three children, and his grandson will continue the family tradition in the autumn.

Heilinglechner was happy to report on his experiences with the teacher "Aunt" Traudl Lohsteiner, who died in 2020.

As a sanction for disobedience, Little Klaus once had to watch his friends frolic in the sandpit alone out the window.

"It was a profound memory that shaped me," he admitted.

Today's head of the kindergarten, Barbara Aman, met Aunt Traudl before she died.

Although she had long since retired, the resolute educator wanted to go back to her old place of work to make sure everything was in order.

"That fits.

I like it.

Now I'm calm," Lohsteiner said after the tour to Amann.

So much has changed in five decades.

"Back then, the children called the teachers aunt or lady, today they are addressed by their first names and used the first name," explained Amann.

Children are involved in day-to-day life in day-care centers

In addition, more emphasis is placed on participation today than on paternalism.

At weekly children's conferences, the offspring can contribute their own ideas.

"Our focus is on education, care and upbringing," continued Amann.

She proudly mentioned that children from twelve nations are now attending the care center.

The integration works just as well as the inclusion of children with disabilities.

Manager wants more professionals

Nevertheless, Aman would like a lower support ratio and the employment of additional specialist staff.

Heilinglechner also regrets that this requirement is unfortunately difficult to meet today.

"I would also like to have more educators and smaller groups, but the staff is hard to come by," he noted.

The assumption of municipal sponsorship four years ago seems all the more important.

Martin Melf, who heads the education and social affairs department in the town hall, promised to continue to support the traditional kindergarten.

Finally, candidate for the priesthood Michael Korell gave the church blessing.

After the speeches, the children enjoyed hot dogs, cheese plates and other delicacies with their parents.
