Today, the Central Library of Tishreen University hosted a cultural event in cooperation between the Watan Document Foundation and the National Union of Syrian Students, with the aim of introducing the Foundation’s documentary work to the years of the terrorist war on Syria.

During the event, a video was shown about the Foundation’s work and efforts in documenting the stories and events that took place throughout the country and introducing the competition for the best realistic story within the “This is my story” competition, which will be dedicated this year to university students inside and outside Syria.

In his speech, a member of the Executive Office of the National Union of Syrian Students, Omar al-Jabai, explained that the homeland document aims to document the years of war on Syria, pointing out that what will be documented are not fictional stories, but rather facts that occurred with the students, which will constitute a documentation of the history of Syria and its youth in this period of time. Defeating terrorism, expressing his hope that the number of participants will increase and the largest possible number of events and stories will be documented.

The winner of the Foundation's Prize last year, the third secondary student, Nibal Fatima, explained that she wanted, through her story, to inform the Syrian people about her and her family's suffering from terrorism, and she is happy that she won the award that will push her forward towards writing again.

In a similar statement, the Director of Projects at Musa Al-Khoury’s Watan Document Foundation explained that the Foundation has several documentation projects that are being worked on, such as literal documentation, Syriac heritage and the war on Syria. In 2019, the “This is my story” award was launched with the aim of reviving the interest in writing memoirs and the history of Syria, which is available to all participating If he was a witness to the event or part of it.

He pointed out that participation is open until the end of this month, provided that it has not been previously published and that it is within 1500 to 3000 words, preferably in the classical language.
