The police arrested this evening (Sunday) an incumbent council leader in the south of the country on suspicion of violence against his partner.
The police attribute additional offenses to the suspect.
In a statement on behalf of the police, it was stated that an investigation has been opened into suspected incidents of violence on the part of the head of the council towards his partner.
An initial investigation brought up various suspicions, among them being a detective and harassing the partner.
It also emerged that the police kept her in a safe place in order to prevent harm to her.
This evening, according to the investigators, the suspect was arrested, and tomorrow he will be brought before the Beer Sheva Magistrate's Court to discuss the extension of his detention.
