Australian police have arrested a man on suspicion of carrying out a shooting at the main terminal of Canberra Airport, causing it to be evacuated.
AFP quoted the police as saying that "the airport station in the capital, Canberra, was evacuated after hearing gunshots in the check-in area of Bab Al-Hita," only confirming that the situation at the airport was under control, without indicating that there were any injuries.
Video footage circulating on social media showed a policeman pinning a man to the ground as sirens sounded at the main airport in the Australian capital.
Passengers reported that the airport was closed and there was a heavy police presence.
