The childcare situation in the municipality of Münsing has relaxed a little.

The problem isn't the rooms, it's the staff.

Münsing – Shortly before the start of the new kindergarten year, the childcare situation in the municipality of Münsing eased up a bit.

However, there is still a need for crèche places.

The problem isn't the rooms, it's the staff.

Childcare in Münsing: The situation has only eased slightly

For its St. Georg day-care center in Holzhausen, the Catholic Church is desperately looking for an educator, a nanny, as well as interns and volunteers (FSJ) in order to be able to open a second crèche group.

The municipality of Münsing wants to convert the kindergarten building it owns on Kirchbergstrasse.

The building application has been submitted.

According to treasurer Hubert Kühn, things would “look pretty good” in terms of monument protection and fire protection – both of which have been critical so far.

But what is the use of premises suitable for small children if the care key cannot be fulfilled, asks Kühn.

Church is urgently looking for staff for additional crèche group

Johann Geiger from the church administration regrets that a number of parents with small children on the waiting list for a daycare place had to be turned down due to the lack of staff.

"We could easily complete a fourth group," he says.

There is no longer a waiting list for the two kindergarten groups.

All new girls and boys would be housed here from September.

As reported, some time ago parents sent an open letter to the community asking them to find solutions for looking after the little ones.

In the Heinrich-Obermaier-Kindergarten in Degerndorf the situation is happier.

Here, the municipality is currently converting an existing apartment into another group room for over three-year-olds.

"Everything should be ready by the beginning of October at the latest," says Kühn.

There is no crèche in the Degerndorf kindergarten.

However, experienced childminders run a large day care for one to three year olds right next door.

Kindergartens pay conurbation allowance

The Heinrich Obermaier Kindergarten is better staffed than the church one.

The position of the retiring head was filled seamlessly from within the company, says Kühn.

Both kindergartens pay the conurbation allowance.

Johann Geiger promises that the church will also find affordable housing for new employees.

But the market has been swept empty.

Numerous other municipalities would feel this at the moment.

A third institution in Münsing is the forest kindergarten "Waldameisen" in Ammerland.

"Overall, we are expecting some relaxation, but have not yet covered the need," summarizes Mayor Michael Grasl.

If things had gone faster with the community center, the town hall could now be converted into a “house for children”.

The community expects this to happen by 2024.
