Firefighting teams and mechanisms put out a fire that broke out in a forest site near Deir Shamil in the Masyaf area in the western Hama countryside.
The director of Masyaf region, Colonel Muhammad Jaafar, told SANA reporter that the fires were brought under control and the hotbeds of fire are currently being cooled and monitored during the next 24 hours to deal with them for fear of their outbreak again due to strong winds in the area.
The area manager suggested that the fire was caused by a farmer burning the remains of his crop, which led to him losing control of the fire and its extension to the mountainous forests adjacent to his field.
Units and vehicles from the Hama Fire Brigade, Masyaf, Hama Forest, Al-Ghab and Civil Defense participated in extinguishing the fire, with the support of units of the Syrian Arab Army and civil activities in the area.
The Governor of Hama, Dr. Mahmoud Zanubua, accompanied by the provincial police chief, Major General Turki Al-Saeed, also inspected the site of the fire and reviewed the operations to put it out.
The governor stressed the need for the people to cooperate with the competent teams, starting from reporting the fire to advising on the easiest ways to reach the affected sites.
