A man committed suicide by shooting himself after his car crashed into a barrier near the Capitol of Congress today.
Commenting on the incident, the Capitol Police said in a statement carried by Agence France-Presse: "It does not appear that the man was targeting any members of Congress." Of which".
The statement pointed out that after the man got out of the car, "he fired shots in the air, and when the policemen responded to the shooting and approached him, he shot himself."
The incident comes in the midst of escalating tension and sharp debate on social media after a number of boxes of classified government documents were seized in the residence of former President Donald Trump in Florida, and the Washington City police opened an investigation into the man and his record.
