The energy crisis in Bavaria is taking on strange features: a family man's stack of firewood in the Fürstenfeldbruck district is attracting unusual prospects.

Puchheim-Ort

- Thomas Handelshauser's stack of firewood in the garden has recently had a magical appeal.

The 39-year-old felt compelled to act.

In an interview with the Fürstenfeldbrucker Tagblatt, he explains why.

Enormous demand: people want to buy wood from private property - "It got on my nerves at some point"

Mr Handelshauser, why did you feel compelled to point out that your firewood is not for sale?

Three to four people came every day and wanted to buy the wood.

That got annoying at some point.

(

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular

FFB newsletter.)

Why don't you want to sell wood?

Because we need it ourselves.

We are three families.

We burn around 20 Ster per year.

Great demand for firewood: "What most people don't know: making wood is a hell of a lot of work"

Wouldn't it be tempting to make money with it?

No, that wouldn't be worth it.

What most people don't know is that making wood is a hell of a lot of work.

Even at the high price you can currently get, it wouldn't be worth it.

Aren't you afraid that thieves will attack your wood?

But of course I already have it.

And rightly so.

There were already some there.

About a star has already been stolen.

They must have climbed over the fence and taken the wood with them.

It's better secured now though.

Did the notice that the wood is not for sale actually work?

Yes, it's been quiet since the sign was up.
